Linowes Supports Poor Roberts Mission for Those in Need this Thanksgiving

November 14, 2017

Linowes and Blocher is proud to support Poor Roberts Mission in helping those in need at Thanksgiving. Linowes and Blocher's founding fathers, R. Robert Linowes and Joseph P. Blocher, believed that not only is it our duty to give back to our community but an honor to do so.

Poor Roberts Mission continues the legacy started by Robert D. "Bobby" Abbo, legendary Washington, D.C. restaurateur.  They carry on Bobby’s vision to ensure that once again families in our community who are in need will be able to share a wonderful Thanksgiving.

For over 40 years Poor Roberts Charities and now Poor Roberts Mission has provided thousands of local families with Thanksgiving turkeys. The turkeys are distributed through churches, community organizations, recreation centers and other community groups around the metropolitan area who have identified families in need. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, these organizations meet to pick up their turkeys for delivery to the assigned families. It runs like clockwork and within 3 hours all the turkeys are delivered. In 2016, over 84 local organizations received more than 6,200 turkeys which fed more than 50,000 people in our region.
