Linowes and Blocher LLP’s Real Property Taxation Group represents property owners, developers and property managers in administrative and judicial ad valorem (based on value) real property assessment and taxation appeals. We understand the procedural and substantive aspects of the ad valorem real property taxation appeal process and have achieved substantial success in obtaining tax savings for owners of unimproved, owner-occupied and income-producing properties, including apartment projects, shopping centers, office buildings, warehouse, industrial buildings, hotels/motels and other commercial properties.

We perform a variety of services related to the appeal process, including:

  • Reviewing and analyzing mid-cycle, annual or triennial assessments
  • Consulting with assessors to obtain reduced assessments without a formal appeal process
  • Pursuing administrative appeals where assessments appear unjustified or excessive
  • Prosecuting appeals before appropriate administrative and judicial bodies where required
  • Analyzing the validity of partial or supplemental assessments for newly constructed buildings, rezoned or resubdivided properties
  • Assisting in completing documents required by respective assessing jurisdictions
  • Analyzing real estate tax invoices to assure that the proper relief has been granted
  • Providing projections of future real estate tax liability
