Peter Z. Goldsmith
Peter Z. Goldsmith is an associate in the firm’s Annapolis office, where he focuses his practice on land use, real estate, litigation, and appeals. He counsels developers, builders, property owners, and businesses on various legal matters in Prince George’s County, Anne Arundel County, and Annapolis, providing services that include due diligence, litigation, and representation before administrative agencies.
Peter frequently interacts with city and county councils, the Anne Arundel Office of Planning and Zoning, the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, the Prince George’s County Planning Department, the Critical Area Commission for the Chesapeake and Atlantic Bays, Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources, Maryland’s Department of Environment, and various boards of appeal. His legal knowledge includes familiarity with the codes of Maryland, Anne Arundel County, Prince George’s County, and the City of Annapolis, along with the laws and regulations governing the Critical Area.
Before joining Linowes and Blocher, Peter worked as a project manager and salesperson for a national homebuilder, where he obtained practical experience in the Prince George’s County, Charles County, and Baltimore County real estate markets. He maintains an extensive network in the building industry, growing his reputation as a leader in the field.
Peter also earned numerous accolades at the University of Maryland School of Law, where he graduated cum laude, was selected as an Articles Editor on the Maryland Law Review, and was elected president of his class. During law school, Peter was a judicial intern to the Honorable Marvin J. Garbis, District Judge for the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. After law school, Peter was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Peter B. Krauser, Chief Judge of the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland.
In addition to his work with the firm, Peter was hired as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he taught Sustainable Real Estate Development: Introduction to Principles, Process, and Practice to undergraduate students. He is currently the Chair of the Real Estate and Land Use Committee of the Prince George's County Bar Association, and he is on the Board of Directors of the Bar Association. Also, Peter has served as a pro bono assigned public defender for the Appellate Division of Maryland’s Office of the Public Defender.
