Prince George's County Draft Zoning Ordinance Released; Public Comments Due to Planning Department by December 15, 2017

October 18, 2017

The Prince George's County Planning Department and its consultants have been working on a comprehensive rewrite to the County Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations.  These processes will have a significant effect on all properties in Prince George's County, whether currently developed or vacant.  We recommend that all property owners and interested parties actively participate in these processes in order to protect the highest and best use of their properties.

The Comprehensive Review Draft of these two documents was recently released to the public.  With the release of the Comprehensive Review Draft, the Planning Department is seeking written comments from property owners and members of the public.  The deadline to submit these comments is December 15th.  It is anticipated that the District Council will introduce legislation for adoption of the new Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations in early 2018.  Following their adoption, the County will seek to comprehensively rezone all of the properties within the County to reflect the zoning classifications contained in the new Zoning Ordinance.
