Impact Fee Bill Defeated

May 3, 2010

In early March 2010, we alerted you to the existence of Bill 12-10 that would have deferred increases in impact fees in Anne Arundel County. Although four Councilmembers had sponsored the Bill, it was nonetheless defeated on May 3, 2010 by a vote of four to three. The existing impact fee schedule therefore remains the same for 2010.

Impact fees will rise sharply on January 1, 2011. As an example, residential development of 2,000 square feet to 2,499 square feet will go from the 2010 rate of $1,373 for roads and $2,518 for schools to $3,433 for roads and $6,296 for schools.

If the Annapolis office of Linowes and Blocher LLP can assist you in any way in connection with impact fees, please contact Linda Schuett or Midgett Parker at 410.268.0881.
